Joanna is a ceramicist whose practice is informed by her maternal experience. Joanna’s latest work includes line drawings in blue cobalt onto fine hand build porcelain cups, jugs, bowls and flatwork. Joanna lives in Carmarthen in Wales as part of a permaculture community and creates her ceramics in her caravan pottery.
Joanna is part of an international project called – An Artist Residency in Motherhood which has created a focal point for her practice by seeing parenting as inspiration for making work, rather than an obstruction to be overcome.
Inspired to connect and support other artist / mothers with similar life journeys’, she founded the Creatives/Mamu Creadigol, a group that meets regularly at her home. Here she has access to a woodland studio; a beautiful timber and straw bale framed building where she produces her work and holds regular artists meetings. Her longterm plan is to hold residencies, courses and retreats.
