Poppy Jackson makes performance, painting, sculpture and prints that explore the female body as an autonomous zone. Her work has been featured in The New York Times, The Guardian, The Independent, ArtReview, BBC 2 & Radio 4. The artist’s work has centred on pregnancy and the maternal body since she became a mother in 2018.
Jackson gained a BA (Hons) from Dartington College of Arts and MA from Goldsmiths, University of London. Work has been presented at The Barbican and Whitechapel Gallery (London), Grace Exhibition Space (New York), Defibrillator Performance Art Gallery (Chicago), Spider International Festival of Dance (Ljubljana). Lectures delivered at The Royal College of Art, School of the Arts Institute of Chicago, NHS Hospitals Bristol, Bangalore International Conference on Menstrual Health, and The Royal College of Psychiatrists. Arts Council England and British Council awards, for UK-US projects reaching beyond the bounds of art, have reimagined participants experiencing of their own bodies.
Jackson is an Associate Artist of ]performance s p a c e [. She lives in rural Suffolk with her children Elora and Wanda.
